Senior Architectural Technician

Perth Studio

Hunt Architects is seeking a Senior Architectural Technician to work with our Perth Studio.

As a Senior Architectural Technician, based in our Perth Studio, you will play a key role in bringing architectural designs to life by transforming concepts and drawings into highly detailed technical plans ready for construction. You will work closely with your project team to ensure that every aspect of the building’s design is feasible, meeting regulatory requirements, and adhering to the Project Architect’s vision.

This role is ideal for someone with a minimum of 10 years’ experience, a strong commitment to quality design, and exceptional detailing and documentation skills. As part of a long-term succession plan for our Perth team, you’ll play a pivotal part in an exciting range of projects as they advance into the detailed design and documentation phase. We’re seeking an accomplished professional with a proven record in project delivery who thrives in a collaborative, open-studio environment.

The role requires strong experience in project delivery, detailed design, and technical resolution. You’ll also lead our documentation team on medium to large-scale projects, managing everything from detailed design to construction deliverables. Applicant Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Drafting or relevant qualification.
  • Advanced Revit skills required.
  • Strong construction detailing expertise.
  • Building & construction industry experience needed.
  • State Government project experience preferred, not critical.
  • Essential experience with IFT and IFC documentation.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Large-scale project experience.
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards & NCC.

Role Expectations

  • Leadership and Team Support: Report to the Principal/Project Leader, as 2IC to lead a team of technicians on projects valued from $1M to $100M.
  • Design and Drafting: Produce concept designs and working drawings across various sectors.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with the Projects team, architects, consultants, and external contractors to ensure seamless project progress.
  • Mentorship and Development: Mentor junior team members, focusing on upskilling and team coordination.
  • Construction Detailing Expertise: Apply a strong knowledge of high-quality construction detailing.
  • Documentation Preparation: Prepare Issue for Tender and Issue for Construction documentation.
  • Revit Expertise and Team Training: Advanced Revit modelling skills for accurate project documentation, assisting in training and improving efficiencies.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks at each project stage to maintain standards.
  • Documentation Management: Oversee the maintenance and storage of all construction documentation.
  • Detailed Design Interpretation: Interpret project requirements to complete detailed design concepts.
