A carefully developed composition creates an immediately apparent sense of welcome. It invites guests to explore and effortlessly cultivates an atmosphere where visitors feel at ease and eager to engage.
The WA Police Academy plays an integral role in supporting our graduates who in turn, support our society.
The WA Police Academy resides firmly within the City of Joondalup. The Academy incorporates administration, lecture theatres, teaching areas as well as tactical and fitness training, scenario village, student and executive conference and canteen areas, student accommodation, parade ground, chapel and memorial garden. These have all been formally master planned around a man-made lake as its central focus.
A ceremonial tree-lined access road off Lakeside Drive, use of sculpture and an elevated shade canopy over the campus’ main circulation street heighten the civic formality. The material palette of timber, limestone and zinc paneling; rectilinear plan forms and fenestration and colonnades have all been carefully considered and chosen to achieve a collegiate model from all vantage points within the education precinct.
The Academy masterplan and aesthetic design create a sense of permanency and dignity. However, it’s not overburdened with authority or power. Instead, a carefully developed composition creates an immediately apparent sense of welcome. There is a strong sense of environmental fit to achieve energy efficiency and cost effectiveness.
