Paul Sadler Swimland Receives ASSA Sustainability Award

Recently featured in the Australasian Leisure Management magazine, our Paul Sadler Swimland project has yet again garnered attention for its sustainability efforts. We are thrilled to announce that Paul Sadler Swimland in Carrum Downs has been awarded the prestigious ASSA Sustainability Award for 2023. This recognition serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability and marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to create greener and more environmentally friendly aquatic facilities.

Stage 1 Upgrades: A Remarkable Reduction in Gas Consumption

In the previous year, we successfully completed Stage 1 upgrades at Paul Sadler Swimland, resulting in an impressive 60% reduction in gas consumption. These upgrades included a range of enhancements such as glazing infills, ceiling insulation upgrades, new lighting systems, and the replacement of gas mechanical heating with heat pumps. The positive impact of these changes has been substantial, showcasing our dedication to reducing the carbon footprints of aquatic centers.

Looking Ahead to Stage 2: Embracing Solar Power

Building upon the success of Stage 1, we are now preparing for Stage 2, which will focus on installing solar panels to replace gas pool water heating with heat pumps. This significant step will further enhance our sustainability initiatives and make a substantial difference in energy usage. Notably, Swimland locations in Narre Warren, Bacchus Marsh, and Hoppers Crossing are also slated to undergo similar upgrades within the next 12 months. This concerted effort ensures that a sustainable future expands across all facilities, positively impacting both the environment and the communities we serve.

The timing of receiving the ASSA Sustainability Award couldn’t be more opportune. On July 5th and 7th, our very own Michael Cook will be presenting at the esteemed Aquatic Centre Hypotheticals in Sydney and Melbourne.

We want to express our gratitude to the dedicated team at Paul Sadler Swimland and everyone involved in making these sustainability upgrades a reality. It is through their unwavering dedication and hard work that we have achieved this remarkable milestone.
