The Glengarry Hospital Ward Redevelopment reflects Hunt Architect’s commitment to creating healthcare environments that promote recovery, dignity, and connection.
The $2.5 million redevelopment involved extensive alterations and additions to the existing 30-bed Boronia Ward. The scope included new ensuites, equipment store, general store, beverage bays, dirty utility, and staff facilities, alongside a complete reconfiguration of patient and staff areas to enhance flow and function.
The project continues Hunt Architect’s long-standing partnership with Glengarry Hospital, building on previous works including the expansion of the day procedure unit, incorporation of 22 new recovery bays, and the refurbishment of CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department) and new hospital entry.
The design approach focused on creating a calm, patient-centred environment while addressing the technical demands of contemporary healthcare. Natural light, soft materials, and clear wayfinding contribute to a sense of ease for patients and staff alike.
Each element — from ensuite integration to nurse station visibility — was carefully considered to balance clinical efficiency with warmth and comfort. Interiors were designed to support both privacy and observation, essential for patient safety and wellbeing.
Continuity and Care
This latest phase of redevelopment reinforces Hunt Architect’s ongoing collaboration with Ramsay Health in evolving Glengarry Hospital’s facilities to meet modern standards of care.
Through an integrated architecture and interiors approach, the project delivers a cohesive, future-ready environment that enhances the daily experience of patients, families, and staff.
