Shaping the Future of Electric Automotive Training

North Metro TAFE Automotive Building

The building functional planning solutions has evolved into a well-ordered arrangement of specialised training rooms over two levels anchored by the main double volume East/West foyer space. Training rooms to the north of the foyer showcase automotive training which are viewed through glazed walls both at ground and first floor level.

South of the foyer is a live works “Customer Service” counter; an Environmental Diversity lab and the Lab which recently moved to the southern portion because industry representative considered it essential that the Collision Avoidance Technology Lab are directly accessed off the Automotive Workshop.

Reflecting Hi-Tech Innovation

The design of the facility mirrors the sophisticated, “hi-tech” nature of its function. With state-of-the-art training areas and carefully planned layouts, the building sets a new benchmark for modern educational environments. The design promotes seamless integration of advanced technologies, ensuring that students and educators are equipped for success in a rapidly evolving industry.

A Landscape for Learning and Community

The surrounding landscape was designed to be as functional as it is welcoming. We created spaces that facilitate both small daily gatherings and larger-scale events. Accessibility was a key priority, with pathways and gathering areas designed to be easily traversable, providing a versatile and inclusive environment for students and visitors alike.

Preserving Natural Heritage

Three significant Tuart trees in the forecourt stand as living symbols of the project’s commitment to environmental preservation. Additionally, the building’s design adheres to a Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) rating of BAL19, with construction detailing that prioritises safety while harmonising with the environment.

Collaborative Consultation for Seamless Development

A thorough and consultative approach was central to the project’s success. Stakeholders were engaged at every milestone, ensuring transparency and collaboration. This process resulted in a smooth and efficient Development Application, reflecting the strength of our relationships with all parties involved.
