O’Neill House, nestled in the heart of vibrant Prahran, is dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate care for older individuals in need of temporary respite or specialized end-of-life support.
Working closely with Villa Maria Catholic Homes, the O’Neill House provides specialised end-of-life care. It is the ideal destination for both caregivers seeking support and their loved ones in search of comfort, connection, and care. Hunt Architects were engaged to take onboard the refurbishment scope of architectural and interior services. We take immense pride in unveiling a space that transcends the conventional notions of care facilities.
This project involved a comprehensive renovation of a well-established aged care facility housed in a building over 60 years old. It demanded specialized expertise and meticulous planning to ensure a warm and inviting environment for families to connect with their loved ones residing in the facility. Adapting the aging building to meet current BCA and DDA regulations was a significant challenge, requiring close collaboration between all consultants, client and stakeholders.
The heart of O’Neill House is the provision of aged care respite services. Every situation is unique, and we took great care in designing a space that could be customized to meet the diverse needs of caregivers and their loved ones. Our design philosophy was guided by the principle that O’Neill House should be a welcoming and tranquil environment. This building has been redesigned following extensive research, recognising the importance of the physical environment. All rooms promote independence and mental wellbeing through the use of light, nature and luxurious finishes.
We approached the design of every room with the intention of promoting independence and mental wellbeing. Our approach embraced natural light, elegant finishes, and an emphasis on comfort. Each room boasts a private ensuite, flat-screen, climate-controlled rooms, opening windows, ample storage, personal shelving displays, and a family-friendly approach. The design of O’Neill House encourages a sense of togetherness. We created an inviting space where family members or friends are welcome to stay overnight with their loved ones, promoting a bond that transcends caregiving.
